1. His Love Lights the Way - (C) The love of God is the most precious resource any of us can experience. It gives direction, comfort, and a model for our own daily behavior toward others. Even in difficult, stressful, or uncertain times, His love directs us onward, lighting our path and giving us hope - no matter what. (2 Ne. 4:20-21; 1 Ne. 11:21-23)
2. The Interview - (L) President David O. McKay taught that each of us will someday stand before the Savior, to give a personal accounting of our lives. What will be of most interest to Him, in that final life review, will be the way in which we treated others. If we prepare wisely, that meeting with Him can be one of satisfaction and sublime joy. (Alma 5:15-19)
3. Armed With Strength - (L) As predicted, we of the last days live in perilous and difficult times. We need not fear, however, for the great Captain we looked to before continues to guide us now. We can be armed with His strength, endowed with His power, to face and overcome all the challenges allotted to us in this world. (1 Ne. 14:14; Eph. 6:10-18)
4. Child of Light - (L) Facing adversities and challenges is not new to any of us. Each of us was part of a victorious army in the world before we came here. We have an ancient relationship, each of us, with the Almighty, who knows us personally, and values us dearly for who we are, who we have always been. (D&C 138:55-56; Rev. 12:7-8)
5. Held in Reserve - (L) President Ezra Taft Benson taught that those living in this time have been chosen and "held in reserve" for 6000 years to come forth now, during the "winding up scenes" of this world's history, when the challenges and opportunities are the very greatest. Marvelous and glorious experiences await us, if we continue faithful. (D&C 133:57-59)
6. For Thy Good - (C) To every one of us, life sometimes brings disappointments and heartache. In those times, it can be especially hard to feel the love of God. Yet He has promised that even the most difficult of these experiences can be turned for our good, shaping our souls, and drawing us ever closer to Him. (Ro. 8:28; D&C 90:24, 98:3, 122:5-9)
7. My Own Sacred Grove - (L) The story of the boy Prophet, Joseph Smith, and his First Vision provides a model for our own experiences with the Master. We can apply principles taught in this story to our own lives, our own experiences. Like Joseph's, we can find revealed answers to our personal concerns, if we look to the Savior. (JS-H 1:8-17; 1 Ne. 19:23)
8. Let It Rather Be Healed - (C) Paul taught that rather than allow old pain and woundedness to get in our way, we should "let it rather be healed." (Heb. 12:12-13) Our broken hearts can be mended, our sorrows turned to joy. This is accomplished not by looking to the arm of flesh, but to Him who was sent to carry out this gentle healing work. (Is. 61:1-4)
9. When I Look to Him - (C) We live in a world that is far from perfect; and we ourselves struggle with many weaknesses and imperfections. But the Savior lovingly provides the blueprint and the means by which this troubled world can be transformed into a better place, and by which we can be made into better people. (D&C 6:36; Ether 12:4)
10. His Yoke Is Easy - (C) Choosing to serve God is not a trouble-free course. His work can stretch and challenge us far beyond our known limits, which can be far from comfortable. Yet there is deep satisfaction in giving all one has in His service. Truly, as He has promised, "My yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matt. 11:30; D&C 4:2)
11. The Applause of God - (C) The world teaches us to seek recognition, acclaim, and applause from others. Yet there is a quieter and far more precious kind of validation. Whether our allotted work is performed on a stage, in an office, or in a kitchen, if we do it in the right way, for the right reason, we can feel the Master's quiet praise and appreciation. Thanks to my dear friend Kade Smith for providing his wonderful soulful voice on the duet part. (Matt. 25:21)
12. I Will Praise Thee (Song of the Redeemed) - (C) In a grand vision, while imprisoned on the Isle of Patmos, the Apostle John saw a time in which those who had passed through great tribulation would gather to sing praises to Him who had brought them through their challenges, and wiped away their tears. None of us can comprehend the full extent of the Savior's love for us, or the full impact of the grand gifts He has given us. But we can thank and praise Him forever, for His eternal kindness to us, His rich and infinite mercies.
(Rev. 7:9-17; 1 Jn. 4:19)
